When i watched group work i saw a teacher who worked very easily with his kids. Students were productive for the most part and he did a good job of working around to all of the kids and helping all the groups. As always the mood is light and the teacher generally nurtures his kids through jokes and at the same time guides the students through the assignment. His technique of teaching does not vary, but to the degree of freedom it does vary. in some classes he can joke more than others due to their maturity level. In one class there are a few more kids that talk amongst themselves so more often than in some of the other classes he must break from his usually fun mood and discipline them.
Reflections:
When group work was going on the teacher was very active by moving around to everyone and i got the impression that he was mentoring and letting them find the answers and not just giving the answers to them. The students definitely worked and once they were done the lab they then moved on to a set of questions at their seat so everyone had something to do at all times. My style of teaching will be to teach students while enjoying myself and hopefully getting the students to enjoy themselves. i think learning should be fun and doesn't always have to be about the teacher dictating everything to the kids. How ever one line always stuck with me that a teacher told me. the line was i like to have fun, but no one is going to have more fun in the classroom then me. i feel like this speaks to class discipline and keeping the class on task because if the students start to have more fun then me then they are probably doing things that can disrupt the learning of the class.
